I enjoyed a nice afternoon walk at my local park today. Fresh air, nature, and exercise — that’s one feel good Friday, if you ask me! But, it gets even better. As I walked along a dirt path nestled under low hanging trees surrounding a beautiful lake, the sound of rock music began to fill the air. As someone that loves music, I was intrigued, so I set out to find the source of the music. I made my way out from under the tree-lined path into an open field. At the end of the open field was a stage and the source of the music was coming from. On stage was a lone performer singing a song reminiscent to Jack Johnson (and must I say, “Yay” to that, Jack Johnson is one of my favorite singers).
As I stood listening to the music with the lake and trees surrounding me, I felt happy and inspired.
When I arrived home, I did a quick search on the internet and it turns out the concert in the park was part of a concert series called, “Rock, Reuse & Recycle 3″. The goal of the concert is to bring environmental awareness to young people in an effort to make the township more “green.” 20 bands are to be in attendance. Music for the sake of music is great, music for the purpose of backing a cause such as this is even better.
